General
Does ArgoVPN have data or speed limits?
No. There are currently no data, speed, or time limits for ArgoVPN users.
Will ArgoVPN drain my phone's battery?
Any VPN or circumvention app uses more battery, because it keeps the processor and the network busy. We paid special attention to this when designing ArgoVPN and used newer Android technologies such as WorkManager to keep battery use as low as possible. Excluding apps from the VPN tunnel is another way to reduce battery use even further.
Do you accept advertising?
ArgoVPN does not accept advertising at the moment, but we may consider accepting general advertising in the near future.

Installing
How can I tell whether the ArgoVPN app on my phone is genuine?
To make sure the version you downloaded or installed is authentic and matches the official releases from the ArgoVPN team, check the following two points.
1. We strongly recommend downloading ArgoVPN only from the official sources verified by our team: the ArgoVPN Telegram channel, the ArgoVPN Telegram bot, our Google Play listing, and our Amazon S3 repository. All of them are updated regularly.
2. Every version of ArgoVPN published by our team is signed with our dedicated digital signature and can be verified against this certificate fingerprint:

Security and privacy
Is data between my device and ArgoVPN's servers encrypted?
Yes. Your data is encrypted all the way to our servers using AES-GCM-128 or ChaCha20-Poly1305. ArgoVPN also uses the TLS protocol to provide perfect forward secrecy.
How is my encryption key chosen?
On every connection, the Argo Authenticator protocol generates a completely random key and delivers it securely to your phone.
Can governments or hackers intercept my encryption key on its way from the server to my phone?
No. The Argo Authenticator protocol guarantees that the key is transferred securely. Because the public encryption key is built into the client, man-in-the-middle attacks are not possible.
What encryption does the Argo Authenticator protocol use?
Argo Authenticator combines AES-GCM-256 encryption with RSA using a 2048-bit key.
Does ArgoVPN make my online activity anonymous?
No. ArgoVPN is only a tool for getting past internet censorship, focused on speed and security. It should not be used as a tool for hiding your identity online or for anonymous browsing, and all security responsibility for improper use of ArgoVPN lies with the user.
No VPN can fully anonymize your identity online. If you want all of your online activity to be anonymous and fully secure, use Tor Browser.
If I use ArgoVPN for activism against the government on social networks, can I be tracked?

Connecting and Falcon
Can my domain get blocked if I use it with Falcon?
Whether your domain gets blocked depends on many factors. For example, if you publish the domain connected to your Falcon on social media, it will be filtered once the filtering operators or the cyber police (FATA) notice it.
The ArgoVPN team constantly works to identify and fix the factors that lead to domains being blocked automatically, but we cannot guarantee that your domains will never be filtered. That is why we recommend not using your main domains, so you won't suffer a serious loss if something goes wrong.
Troubleshooting
Why do I see the error “Settings not loaded, please wait” when connecting?
ArgoVPN needs some settings to work correctly. Please wait until they are received. If ArgoVPN cannot fetch its settings for any reason, it uses the last settings it received.
The app doesn't show my IP, or I get error 112 when connecting. What should I do?
DNS is used to find the IP addresses of websites. By default, ArgoVPN uses DoH (DNS over HTTPS) providers for this, so that the app's DNS requests don't leak even before the VPN connection is established, and so that DNS answers can't be altered by governments.
Sometimes governments interfere with DoH providers to make filtering harder to get around. When that happens, because no answer comes back from the DoH provider, your IP may not appear on the app's home screen, or you may see error 112 or even 103 when connecting.
In that case, open the app's settings, change the "App Internal DNS Server" option, and try again.
If none of the DoH providers work (because all of them have been filtered), choose the last option, "SYSTEM DEFAULT", to use your system's default DNS for connecting.
Using the system's default DNS does not affect your security. Your choice here is also separate from the DNS used inside the VPN tunnel and does not affect it.
